Abstract
Blood samples were taken from six regions of the cadaver cardiovascular system and the serum assayed for lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity. Attempts were then made to correlate the results with age, sex, postmortem interval, cause of death and electrolyte state of the serum. Values for activity from the peripheral regions appeared similar, whereas the enzyme levels in the right heart were comparatively much higher, as to a lesser extent in the left heart. A possible explanation of the anomalous heart results is suggested.
