The child abuse syndrome is not uncommon in Nigeria. Every hospital handling accident cases should be aware of this fact. Diagnosis is based on a high index of suspicion and the pathognomonic radiological features. It is suggested that detection organizations be set up in each state to handle any suspicious or proven cases of child abuse.
