Semen from men attending a fertility clinic and from men attending a post-vasectomy clinic have been studied for differences in orosomucoid (α1 acid glycoprotein) constitution. Semen samples from 400 individuals have been studied by immunodiffusion. The results of immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoretic tests show that 14 per cent of men exhibit a high level of serum orosomucoid in their semen. The possible use of this difference as a marker in medicolegal investigation is discussed.
