Abstract
Progressive fibrosis with remoulding of the penetrating part of the His bundle has been found in the hearts of 47 infants dying suddenly. It is suggested that these changes may interfere with conduction and if subject to further stimuli could account for the apparent rapidity of death in the cot-death syndrome.
