Abstract
Cardio-vascular disease is the commonest cause of death and coronary artery insufficiency provides a serious social problem, for deaths due to this cause are usually unexpected. The victim, who is not uncommonly a business or professional man, may well leave his business and private affairs in a complicated state which would not have been the case had he realised what was likely to occur as, for example, he would with cancer. Dr. Texon contributes a possible explanation for the cause and the site of atheroma (arterial degeneration) and in doing so illustrates how one speciality (medicine) may benefit from the knowledge of another (hydro-dynamics).
