This short report on speech perception is meant to supplement Michael Studdert-Kennedy's main report. Thus no attempt is made to give a comprehensive account of the state of the art in speech perception research, but discussions are given only on those topics that the author feels not to be sufficiently covered by the main report, or on which the author holds a different view.
