Six new Diplomates joined the College after passing the November 2023 examinations:

ECLAM now has a total of 95 active and 26 retired Diplomates.
Patricia Hedenqvist Steps Down from Council after 12 Years
Dr Hedenqvist has been an ECLAM Diplomate since 2003. She was instrumental in the formation of the ECLAM Certification Examination Committee, which administered the first examinations in 2004; and she remained a committee member until 2017, including two terms as the deputy chair.
She was elected Secretary-elect of the ECLAM Council in 2011 and served in this capacity until 2016. She next served as the ECLAM President-elect, then President, then Past-President, from 2017 until December 2023. After twelve years leading the growth and development of ECLAM, she is stepping down from the Council.
Part of her duties as President were to represent ECLAM in the International Association of Colleges of Laboratory Animal Medicine (IACLAM). After two terms as the ECLAM representative, she was elected President of IACLAM for the 2022–2024 term. In this capacity, she is leading IACLAM initiatives in training and harmonisation of all IACLAM Colleges.
When Dr Hedenqvist is not guiding the development of lab animal veterinarians worldwide, she is a full-time Professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. Her main research focus is on anaesthesia of rodents, rabbits, and swine; she has published 31 papers since 1997. She is the co-author of a chapter on analgesia, anaesthesia and euthanasia in lab animals in the 2002 second edition of the Handbook of Laboratory Animal Science.
ECLAM is immensely grateful for Dr Hedenqvist’s contributions to the development of laboratory animal medicine in Europe, and in particular for her generous and long-standing commitment to ECLAM. She remains an active Diplomate and will no doubt continue in a new capacity in the College’s activities.
