Abstract

Two FELASA Working Groups have been dedicated to improving the care for fish in research. One focused on the methods of humane killing, whilst the other was in collaboration with AALAS and aimed to provide recommendations for fish health monitoring and to facilitate the safe exchange of fish. The working groups started by conducting an international survey regarding the species used for research, the methods of euthanasia, health monitoring practices, and biosecurity programmes in fish laboratories. The results of the survey are now published. 1
You can find the publication on the FELASA website https://felasa.eu/working-groups/id/5, with the publications of the FELASA-AALAS health monitoring working group and the relevant templates to report the health status of your aquatic colonies (Supplementary Tables S4 and S5).2,3
