Abstract

3 February 2022
IVSA collaboration
ECLAM is planning an event together with ESLAV and the International Veterinary Students’ Organisation (IVSA) to present the speciality of laboratory animal medicine to veterinary students. This will include an overview of the overall career path and work of laboratory animal veterinarians. It is the first of several initiatives aimed at connecting ECLAM and ESLAV with the European veterinary faculties, in line with ECLAM’s five-year strategic plan.
IACLAM publication on speciality training
The International Association of Colleges of Laboratory Animal Medicine (IACLAM) includes five colleges: ECLAM, ACLAM (USA), ICLAM (India), JCLAM (Japan) and KCLAM (South Korea). Together the colleges represent over 1600 Diplomates. The January 2022 issue of JAALAS includes a paper (https://doi.org/10.30802/AALAS-JAALAS-21-000044) on the global harmonisation of speciality training. Three ECLAM Diplomates co-authored the review, providing a model for newly formed colleges when setting up training standards.
