Sage was contacted by the PhD supervisor of the first author, citing concerns this research was published without their research team’s consent, and has included authors on the byline who do not meet authorship criteria.
Sage communicated with the director of University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene’s laboratory of research on arid zones, the place where the research was conducted. They have confirmed they are unaware of the other co-authors and their contributions to the research underlying this article.
The authors did not provide appropriate materials to verify their claims of authorship and contribution.
Due to outstanding concerns about the authors of the article and their contributions to the research, the Journal Editor retracts this article, replacing the expression of concern originally posted.
