A recent literature review concluded that religiosity and criminality are related in at least the following three ways: high probabilities of delinquency and crime are associated with infrequent church attendance, with skepticism about the reality of an afterlife, and with being Christian (especially Catholic) as opposed to being Jewish. This report argues that arousal theory may explain such relationships better than other explanations offered so far.
