Abstract
Focuses on the role of the presenting problem in therapy as the critical criterion in differentiating the major schools of psychotherapy. Identifies four problem definition/resolution perspectives that parallel the multiplicity of pastoral roles. Argues for an inclusive utilization of the psychotherapies as potential resources in pastoral counseling.
