Abstract
Explores the connections between shame and secrecy historically associated with female embodiment, particularly evident in menstruation, and the liberating potential released when menstrual stories are able to break free from societal mandates of hiddenness. Claims that the dialogue about the uniqueness of female and male embodiment needs to take place in mixed groups if increased understanding of authentic humanness is to be achieved.
