Abstract
Examines how pastoral care involves judgments about “what do I do?”, “what is happening?”, “how do I know what I know?” and “what are the biases and distortions of my judgments?” Outlines a style of pastoral response, originating in introspections and empathy, between and among persons who are regarded as “lay psychologists-theologians-ethicists” in ever-expanding contexts of care.
