Claims that modern hospitals are settings for human change and for religious ministry. Uses a pastoral care event in a Special Care Nursery to demonstrate the aspects of preparation, intervention, case development, crisis, and resolution. Details eleven salient features of the hospital chaplain in the modern hospital.
