Abstract
Points out the numinous quality of food and explores the relationship of food to spirituality through considerations of the organism, the person's set, and the setting in which food is consumed. Notes references to food in the scriptures and the place of food in the sacraments. Urges pastoral care persons and spiritual directors to include food as an important variable in their understandings and actions as caregivers.
