Abstract
Identifies the many contemporary forces characteristic of a fractured world and interprets them by using scripture—especially Psalm 137—and a verbatim presented by a student chaplain. Explores the meaning of the term “pastoral.” Claims that even in the midst of a fractured world, it is possible to express genuine care, particularly through relationships and in the sharing of stories.
