Abstract
Notes that implicit in much of Seward Hiltner's thinking and writing was an appreciation for the notion of the priesthood of all believers. Offers biblical support for this idea, particularly as it relates to pastoral care and counseling. Concludes that the dynamic relationship between clergy and laypersons in pastoral care is a healthy tension so long as the essential nature of each is maintained.
