Abstract
Presents a philosophical/theological discussion on the nature of human suffering, drawing on literary and biblical sources. Describes connections between suffering and personality and the relation of God to suffering, particularly as viewed in Judaeo-Christian thought. Notes briefly some implications of an understanding of suffering in the practice of ministry.
