Abstract
Presents several case illustrations of the Black experience as manifested in pastoral counseling situations with White therapists. Describes characteristics of racial reality and how they may be manifested in rage, frustration, and depression. Urges White psychotherapists and pastoral counselors to make an effort to become more aware of environmental factors which shape the lives of Black Americans, to become acquainted with the varieties of lifestyles of Blacks, and to monitor honestly their own feelings relative to the race question.
