Examines the cosmologies of classical science and indicates their limitations as foundational for contemporary pastoral care. Describes the idea of an interconnected universe as envisioned by modern physics and claims that it is a new order which is ably expressed by David Bohm's notion of “undivided wholeness in flowing movement.” Claims that this new order brings with it different meanings to such terms as matter, consciousness, and spirit. Notes implications for modern pastoral care.
