Abstract
Argues for using the ministry of Jesus as a basic criterion for understanding and evaluating one's own notion of ministry. Treats the issue of authority as central to ministry. Characterizes Jesus' ministry as possessing certain qualities, including those of human concern, being in touch with feelings, and having a strong relational mode. These same characteristics are present in contemporary psychotherapeutic projects where they are called empathy, warmth, and genuineness.
