Abstract
The focus of this article is upon children during the period of their initial incarceration in a correctional setting. It looks at their experience of separation and the anxiety which it generates, describing the experience in terms of the juvenile anger, self-effacement and aloofness. Some appropriate pastoral responses are suggested.
