Abstract
The research-and-development activities performed for the U.S. military establishment constitute one of the major growth markets of the American economy. The level of military R&D during 1960—$2½ billion—was about double the amount devoted to the purpose as recently as 1955. This research is also an important indicator of the direction of future military production requirements.
This article indicates the nature of the market and some probable future trends.
