A growing body of literature describes the creation of rich language learning environments within the classroom. In general, all children, especially those experiencing language difficulties, will benefit from classroom language learning environments that immerse them in talk and provide frequent opportunities for them to use talk for a variety of purposes in a variety of conversational settings. This paper presents several guidelines for developing favorable language learning environments for students with learning disabilities, drawing from both the literature on language acquisition and the literature on classroom language.
