Abstract
A social worker's role with language disordered preschool children is described. The problems of a child with a severe language impairment exist in an interpersonal setting. The mother-child relationship is affected. Through participation in a group, the mothers increased their understanding of the emotional development of their children within the context of specific language problems. The mothers also were helped to cope with their personal feelings and reactions to their handicapped children.
