Abstract
In this article, the authors argue that comprehensive planning must be done for hyperactive children, particularly those with learning disabilities. Medication has a dangerous side effect in that it often decreases the motivation of physicians, parents, and teachers to search for additional interventions to address all of a child's needs. Several interventions have been developed to build on medication-induced attentional increases. These additional strategies and techniques can facilitate the school adjustment and achievement of medicated learning disabled children in ways that medication alone cannot.
