The focus of the column this month is on auditory perception. First, Reid Lyon delineates the issues in this area, and then the editors describe some materials which claim to train the auditory process. If readers find confusion among studies cited, procedures proposed, and their own conclusion, they can be fairly certain that their perception of the state of the art is correct.—C.V.E., B.W.
