Abstract
Stott's book, A Guide for Parents of Children with Learning Difficulties, makes useful reading for both parents and teachers. In another book for parents, Lise Liepman explains numerous activities which will enrich the senses. A book on remediation by Joan Warner is reviewed next; this is followed by The Assessment of Aphasia complete with test and text. The Spelling Sampler provides the LD teacher with over 3,000 words categorized in grammatical lists. This month the motivator is The Foolers Game which should help children with the “b and d” problem. A training program for inner citiy 4-year-olds, carried out by Shure and Spivack, shows that children can solve real-life problems. Also on the emotional plane Loneliness in the Schools by Marc Robert analyzes the anatomy of depersonalized schools and offers clear-cut techniques to change the situation. The Inservice and Preservice Training Program for Specific Learning Disabilities is extremely comprehensive. It includes cassettes, transparencies and resource materials for duplication. Colleges and school districts have a great need for this kind of programmed information. Hannah Miller has sent in an excellent review of the film “Dyslexia.
