Abstract
Even at the college level, reading is not the only learning option open for students. There is evidence that, if given the opportunity, they will choose the option most comfortable to them. Newer technologies permit multi-modal learning and these are cost-effective if the program is continued over time. Technical and procedural modification is a must in a multimedia program — even conditions under which tests are given can be modified for poor readers. In terms of time spent on course development, the challenge to the teacher is formidable, but there are compensations — e.g., student achievement and satisfaction, increasing course enrollment, and so forth.
