The article describes the various functions of a learning disability specialist in a day school program for emotionally disturbed children. The importance of a differential diagnosis to evaluate need primacy and types of specific learning difficulties and behavioral characteristics are discussed. Consideration is given to the work done with the teachers and the parents by the interdisciplinary team.
