Abstract
This study reports the findings of an investigation into the aspirations, atti tudes and previous job histories of a sample of young unemployed. A number of specific hypotheses are tested and it is found that there are substantial differences between males and females with respect to their labour market behaviour and characteristics. Various implications are drawn for future re search into the problem and the need to develop suitable policies.
