Abstract
IN THE light of existing models of the role and orientation of technical specialists in industry, the results of a study of those in a continuous process plant, an oil refinery, are reported and interpreted. This confirmed their preoccupation with intrinsic job satisfactions, but showed a greater concern with influencing management action in the employing organization than with other aspects of their conditions of employment and work environment.
