Although the initial signs are encouraging, it is too early to pass final judgement on the performance of the Fair Work system. Key aspects of the bargaining regime are likely to require amendment to take better account of the nature of Australia’s labour market and economy, in particular to facilitate easier access to multi-employer bargaining and to deal with contingent employment.
