Abstract
Jim Bugental has attempted to change a prevalent view that the focus on things objective is always worthwhile and that attention to the realm of our inner awareness is much less, if at all, valuable. In the classroom, in his writing, and in the development and practice of his psychotherapy, he has been a true champion of subjectivity. He has not only challenged excessive reliance on objectivity but has also developed ways for us to initiate and foster subjectivity with our clients in psychotherapy. He encourages and inspires us, through applications in his classes, texts, and counseling, to enter and work in the world of subjectivity. Always a master craftsman, Jim hones, illuminates, enlivens, and makes functional the subjective realm so that it is fundamentally enriched and enhanced.
