The main characters of the television show M*A *S*H are taken as an illustration of Kohlberg's cognitive-developmental stages of moral development. Physical and verbal samples of the characters' behaviors are given to illustrate each example. Kohlberg's concept of "moral atmosphere" also is considered in relation to the setting of M*A *S*H.
