The death of Michael Polanyi on 22 February 1976 at the age of 85 brought back to me memories of main happy occasions spent with him since our first meeting in 1969 This "remembrance" presents an overview of his personal background and the major outlines ot his thought It closes with a personal recollection ot my association with him .
