Abstract
Efficient and effective use of school time has long been the goal of educators. In the present article, the authors describe a program instituted at Nordhoff High School, Ojai, California whose aim was to optionally utilize all available resources at the school's disposal.
Viewing time in school as a resource for expanding learning opportunity, the authors, in establishing their program, hoped to find and recover more time and to develop ways in which that newly recovered time could be used to best effect learning. While rescheduling school time is an important part of increased learning, it is not the cure for all the ills encountered in school. It is a starting point to help teachers, administrators and students in encouraging self-activation and increasing efficiencies.
