A microleakage model based on the diffusion phenomenon of a radio tracer from the cavity floor of a restoration to the outside medium was discussed and was solved numerically by the finite element method. The simulation results and laboratory data showed that quantitation of microleakage could be achieved and expressed by a new term named Microleakage Coefficient, which reflected the changes of micro gaps by time.
