Abstract
The sound patterns produced by tooth contact were recorded in 24 subjects with myofascial pain-dysfunction (MPD) syndrome prior to and following treatment using an Occlusograph. Recordings also were obtained on 12 control subjects. Evaluation of the sound patterns showed a close correlation between the improvement in symptoms of MPD syndrome following treatment and the consistency of repeated occlusal contacts. The consistency following successful treatment of the subjects with MPD syndrome was equivalent to that of the control subjects.
