Intracellular protein synthesis and migration in the hamster submandibular gland were studied with light microscope radioautography and histochemistry. The acinar and granular duct cells of the gland had similar rates of protein synthesis and exhibited a polarized migration of nascent protein. Histochemical staining for RNA and protein showed inconsistencies with the radioautographic data.
