Enamel removal was studied in 54 permanent maxillary anterior teeth of people from high fluoride and unknown fluoride areas after the teeth were bleached by a standardized technic. A single 20-minute treatment was not excessively destructive, because it removed only about 0.1 mm of labial enamel in most specimens tested, regardless of fluoride background.
