Human submaxillary fluid was analyzed for adrenal corticosteroids. The major steroids present were cortisol and cortisone, with small amounts of tetrahydrocortisol. The concentrations of cortisol and cortisone after adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) injection were similar to those previously found in parotid fluid.
