This study was initiated to characterize the hamster zygomatic gland and to differentiate it from the structurally similar lacrimal and sublingual glands. Hematoxylin and eosin stain was used for morphologic evaluation. The histochemical procedures employed were: PAS (with diastase and distilled water controls), aqueous toluidine blue (RNA-ase), Alcian blue, DMAB, S-acid, and DDD. The site of drainage of secretion products was also established.
