"A Play Box" containing thirty wooden pieces was developed and used with populations of Iranian and Turkish children. A consistency of play was found in repeated administrations. Differences in the use of space was noted between the two groups as well as socioeconomic status (SES) differences in the Iranian population. A surprising finding was absence of SES differences among the Turkish sample possibly attributable to the nature of the preschool program in Turkey.
