Abstract
The deformation behavior of APC-2 PEEK matrix thermoplastic composite at elevated temperatures was characterized in order to increase the understanding of the mechanics in solid-phase forming of advanced thermoplastic composite structures. Off-axis tension tests were performed to determine the inelastic and rate-dependent material properties. An anisotropic elastic/viscoplastic constitutive model was proposed to describe the inelastic and rate-dependent material responses. The constitutive model was evaluated using off-axis and laminate specimens subjected to uniaxial tension.
