In this paper, a general and effective method is provided for load investigation of mul tirow joint fasteners, using finite element method. For the plates in contact, two- dimensional eight-node elements are utilized while a particular shear-resisting element is developed to simulate the fasteners. The properties of materials may be either isotropic or orthotropic or composite materials. The patterns of fastener arrangement, section length and end distance, etc. are not limited.
