Abstract
Reaction-rate theory is employed to model the fracture problem of composite materials under external stress. Effect of change of parameters and the composite ratios are studied by numerical solution of reaction-rate equations. Combinations of elastic and viscoelastic materials are consid ered. Fracture times are tabulated and the changes in the number of bonds per unit area of the material as a function of time have been plotted under various initial conditions to demonstrate the fracture process of com posites.
