Abstract
The three-dimensional disc structure was designed for the anode of Li ion battery. It consisted of Cu (or Ag)–CoO composites. The phase transition of cobalt oxide from CoO to Co3O4 and high porosity were responsible for its high capacity and the poor cycling retention in Ag-based three-dimensional disc electrode. On the contrary, Cu-based three-dimensional disc electrode, which did not show any phase transition and had comparatively low porosity, showed excellent cycling retention and high capacity.
