Abstract
This article questions whether Christian teachers are sufficiently aware of how theology relates to professional practice. In focusing on our understanding of the child or adolescent as a learner, it argues for a critical awareness of how we develop and apply theology. It shows how various interactions of theology with culture produce quite different approaches to education. It then outlines the Bible's teaching on the nature and potential of the pre-adult human person. It concludes with a call for Christian teachers, particularly those serving in Christian schools, to deepen their understanding of biblical theology and its application to their professional practice.
